INSTALLATION OF ORACLE 10g IN WINDOWS.

THERE ARE SOME PREREQUISITES TO BE FULFILLED BEFORE STARTING THE INSTALLATION OF ORACLE10g.

Oracle 10g PC Minimum Hardware Requirements:
 
Physical memory (RAM) 512 MB recommended
Virtual memory Double the amount of RAM
Temp disk space Hard disk space 1.5 GB
Video adapter
256 colors
CPU Processor 200 MHz minimum
Oracle 10g Minimum Windows System Requirements:
 

Architecture 32 bit or 64 bit
Windows OS - Windows NT Server 4.0
- Windows NT Server Enterprise Ed. 4.0
- Windows NTTerminal Server Edition with SP 6
- Windows 2000 with SP 1 or higher
- Windows Server 2003
- Windows XP Professional
Network protocol - TCP/IP
- TCP/IP with SSL
- Named Pipes

1.How to  change the size of virtual memory.


In Windows XP
1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.Click   System.
3.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4.On the Advanced tab, under Virtual memory, click Change.5.Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.
6.Under Paging file size for selected drive, click to Custom size check box. You can enter the amount of memory you would like to reserve for Virtual memory by entering the initial and maximum size.
7.Click Set
When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.

IT SHOULD BE DOUBLE THE SIZE OF YOUR RAM


 





















2.You need to have a lan with static ip adress here are the steps to do so

Manual installation

To manually install the Microsoft Loopback adapter in Windows XP, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. click Add Hardware,and then click Next.
  3. Click Yes, I have already connected the hardware, and then click Next.
  4. At the bottom of the list, click Add a new hardware device, and then click Next.
  5. Click Install the hardware that I manually select from a list, and then click Next.
  6. Click Network adapters, and then click Next.
  7. In the Manufacturer box, click Microsoft.
  8. In the Network Adapter box, click Microsoft Loopback Adapter, and then click Next.
  9. Click Finish
 After installing  the loopback adapter name it to oracle for understadning purpose.


3.Now you have to assign a static ip address to do so here are the steps.
Here are step-by-step instructions showing you how to set IP address and other network information:
1) Go to Start and click on Control Panel.

2) Control Panel window will appear. Double click on Network Connections.

3) Network Connections window will appear. Right click correct Local Area Connection by identifying correct network card and click Properties.

4) Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Click on Properties.

You can now key in the IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway and DNS servers.

4.YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE PRIORITY OF LAN WHICH YOU HAVE INSTALLED TO FIRST POSITION.

1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel
2 .Click Network Connections,
3.Under the menu bar click Advanced,then click Advanced Settings



 NOW WE HAVE FINISHED WITH PREREQUISITES  FOR INSTALLATION OF ORACLE 10G.

 NOW OPEN THE CD OF THE SOFTWARE THEN OPEN THE FOLDER" INSTALL ""THEN RUN "OUI .EXE"(ORACLE UNIVERSAL INTALLER ).
